Mouth-rinsing is of four kinds:
oleaginous, pacifying, purifying, and healing.
Of these, the first three destroy disorders of vāta, pitta, and kapha respectively;
and the healing kind destroys sores of the mouth.
Pacifying, arresting, soothing, and cooling are synonyms [for the second kind].
And in each case, the countermeasure corresponds accordingly.
A limb afflicted by traumatic fresh wounds produced by various injuries, though of very many forms, is briefly of three kinds: cut, punctured, and crushed.
And all three kinds are called "wounds" because of the tearing of skin and other [tissues].
