Among these, the oleaginous kind is an unctuous substance, meat broth, water with sesame paste, or milk, not overly hot, prepared or combined with sweet, sour, salty, and hot medicinal substances.
The pacifying kind is prepared with bitter, astringent, sweet, and cooling substances, such as decoctions of paṭola, ariṣṭa, jambū, āmra, sprouts of mālatī, utpala, and madhuka, sugar-water, honey, milk, sugarcane juice, ghee, and the like.
The purifying kind is prepared with pungent, sour, salty, and hot substances for head-evacuation, stirred with pastes of one of the following: vinegar, fermented liquor, fermented grain wash, or urine.
The healing kind, however, is prepared with astringent, sweet, and cooling substances, and with the ones indicated respectively.
Namely: an abrasion upon the cutting of the skin;
a laceration when some meat is also cut;
a severance when it is broad and long, especially deeply into that [meat];
a hanging wound when some remnants of bone, tendon, and so forth remain;
a severed limb when it is felled without remainder.
