bamboo grains are hot, laxative, astringent, and aggravate vāta and pitta; / aphrodisiac, cold, heavy, unctuous, life-giving, and pacifying vāta and pitta; // from the combination of all five—muscle and the rest—in full development, they take life immediately; // and the others [do so] respectively through the deficiency and diminishment of one by one, and naturally; // in those whose alimentary tract is overpowered by vāta, it arises even without them; // and he should carefully prepare agreeable, clean food with it for him; // torn and soaked: these eight enemas he should avoid in operations; // and there too, one who shakes his head, creates quarrels, is wakefully reciting with haste, and laughs—[possessed] by Hasanā.
