The legumes are mudga, maṅgalya, vana-mudga, makuṣṭhaka, / masūra, kalāya, āḍhakī, and chickpeas, which are of various types. // For when hands and feet are severed, the vessels contract; / therefore, due to minimal hemorrhage, life continues; / but upon piercing of a marma, death occurs due to excessive blood loss and disorder of vāta. / Therefore, when a marma is injured, that limb should quickly be amputated from the joint region. / For marmas that are severely struck, each prior function is lost, or when struck slightly at the margin, subsequent functions [are impaired]. // Those [hemorrhoids] are declared difficult to cure, as are those that have lasted a full year. // Jīvantī, madhuka, grapes, and the fruits of kuṭaja... // One should abandon [patients lying with] an upturned [face] or on the right side on seven beds.
