kaṣāyamadhuraṃ vidyāt khādiraṃ cātisāri ca | tiktaṃ dīpanasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ nirdoṣaṃ taccharīriṇām ||

One should know [the vegetable of] khadira to be astringent-sweet and bowel-loosening; / when bitter and combined with a digestive-stimulant, it is harmless to embodied beings.
