samavāyo 'apṛthagbhāvo bhūmyādīnāṃ guṇairmataḥ /
sa nityo yatra hi dravyaṃ na tatrāniyato guṇaḥ //
Inherence is regarded as the inseparable state of earth and the other [elements] with their qualities.
It is eternal, for wherever a substance is, there a quality is never absent.
