When rebirth is thus taught by the four means of knowledge, one should devote oneself to the gateways of virtue; namely: attendance upon the teacher, study, observance of vows, taking a wife, procreation of offspring, supporting dependents, honoring guests, charity, non-covetousness, austerity, freedom from malice, unblemished physical, verbal, and mental action, examination of the body, senses, mind, sense objects, intellect, and self, and mental concentration. And whatever other actions of this kind are uncensured by the virtuous, lead to heaven, and provide sustenance and nourishment, those one should undertake to perform. Acting thus, one obtains renown in this world and heaven after departing.
