śrutayaścaitā na kāraṇaṃ yuktivirodhāt /
ātmā mātuḥ piturvā yaḥ so 'apatyaṃ yadi saṃcaret /
divvidhaṃ saṃcaredātmā sarvovā 'avayavena vā //

Nor are these [conflicting] doctrines sound causes, because they contradict reasoned correlation: / If the self of the mother or of the father were to migrate into the offspring, / that self would migrate in one of two ways: either entirely or in part.
