bharadvājastu netyāha kartā pūrvaṃ hi karmaṇaḥ /
dṛṣtaṃ na cākṛtaṃ karma yasya syāt puruṣaḥ phalam //
Bharadvāja, however, said: “That is not so; for the agent precedes the action; / and no unperformed action is seen of which man could be the fruit.
