pañca rasā iti kumāraśirā bharadvājaḥ bhaumaudakāgneyavāyavyāntarikṣāḥ /ṣaḍrasā iti vāryovido rājarṣiḥ gurulaghuśītoṣṇasnigdharūkṣāḥ /

“There are five tastes,” said Kumāraśiras Bharadvāja: “earthly, watery, fiery, airy, and etheric.” “There are six tastes,” said the royal seer Vāryovida: “heavy, light, cold, hot, unctuous, and dry.”
