na bandho na ca mokṣaḥ syāt puruṣo na bhavedyadi/
kāraṇaṃ puruṣastasmāt kāraṇajñairudāhṛtaḥ//
nor would there be bondage or liberation, if the person did not exist. / Therefore, the person is declared as the cause by those who know causes.
