varṣāsu kāṣṭhāśmaghanāmbuvegāstaroḥ saritsrotasi saṃsthitasya/
yathaiva kuryurvikṛtiṃ tathaiva garbhasya kukṣau viyatasya doṣāḥ//
Just as in the rains the force of wood, stones, and dense water produces deformity in a tree standing in a river's current,
even so do the doshas [produce deformity] in an embryo that is developing in the womb.
