The Compendium of Caraka 4.6.16

4.6.16

pariṇamatastvāhārasya guṇāḥ śarīraguṇabhāvamāpadyante yathāsvamaviruddhāḥ; viruddhāśca vihanyurvihatāśca virodhibhiḥ śarīram//

As food transforms, its qualities that are not contradictory assume the state of bodily qualities according to their respective nature; and those that are contradictory destroy, and destroyed by opposing [qualities], [they destroy] the body.
