aśabdasya ca yaḥ śrotā śabdān yaśca na budhyate/
dvāvapyetau yathā pretau tathā jñeyau &vijānatā//
He who hears what makes no sound, and he who does not perceive sounds—
both of these are to be understood by the discerning as if already dead.
