7.1.4

tatra doṣaharaṇamūrdhvabhāgaṃ vamanasaṃjñakam, adhobhāgaṃ virecanasaṃjñakam; ubhayaṃ vā śarīramalavirecanādvirecanasaṃjñāṃ labhate//

There, eliminating doshas through the upper part is designated as emesis; through the lower part, designated as purgation; or both acquire the designation of purgation (virecana) from the evacuation (virecana) of bodily wastes.
