jyotiṣaś ca vikurvāṇād āpo rasaguṇāḥ smṛtāḥ
adbhyo gandhaguṇā bhūmir ity eṣā sṛṣṭir āditaḥ //
And from light, modifying itself, (is produced) water, possessing the quality of taste, from water earth which has the quality of smell; such is the creation in the beginning.
