brahma yas tv ananujñātam adhīyānād avāpnuyāt
sa brahmasteyasaṃyukto narakaṃ pratipadyate //

But he who acquires without permission the Veda from one who recites it, incurs the guilt of stealing the Veda, and shall sink into hell.
