śayyāsane 'dhyācarite śreyasā na samāviśet
śayyāsanasthaś caivainaṃ pratyutthāyābhivādayet //

One must not sit down on a couch or seat which a superior occupies; and he who occupies a couch or seat shall rise to meet a (superior), and (afterwards) salute him.
