abhivādanaśīlasya nityaṃ vṛddhopasevinaḥ
catvāri āyur dharmo yaśo balam //

He who habitually salutes and constantly pays reverence to the aged obtains an increase of four (things), (viz.) length of life, knowledge, fame, (and) strength.
