pratigṛhyepsitaṃ daṇḍam upasthāya ca bhāskaram
pradakṣiṇaṃ parītyāgniṃ cared bhaikṣaṃ yathāvidhi //
Having taken a staff according to his choice, having worshipped the sun and walked round the fire, turning his right hand towards it, (the student) should beg alms according to the prescribed rule.
