babhūvur hi puroḍāśā bhakṣyāṇāṃ mṛgapakṣiṇām
purāṇeṣv brahmakṣatrasaveṣu ca //

For in ancient (times) the sacrificial cakes were (made of the flesh) of eatable beasts and birds at the sacrifices offered by Brahmanas and Kshatriyas.
