gandhamādanasaṃsthasya mayāsyāsīt tad arpitam /
vyavahārikadharmasya bāhyam etan na sidhyati //

A claim which is proffered in this form—'I gave this to him while he was in a state of intoxication with fragrance (through a smell of perfume)'—cannot succeed, because it is contrary to established usage.
