rātriṃ kuryāt tribhāgantu dvau bhāgau pūrva eva ca
uttarāṃśaḥ prabhātena yujyate mṛtasūtake
One should divide the night into three parts: the first two parts belong to the previous day; / the latter portion is joined to the dawn in the case of death and birth impurities.
