prathame'hani cāṇḍālī dvitīye brahmaghātakī
tṛtīye rajakī proktā caturthe'hani śudhyati
On the first day she is [like] an outcaste woman, on the second a slayer of a brahmin, / on the third she is declared a washerwoman, and on the fourth day she becomes pure.
