gurutalpe śayānastu talpe svapyādayomaye
cāndrāyaṇāni vā kuryyāccatvāri trīṇi vā dvijaḥ
tato vimucyate pāpātprāyaścitte kṛte sati
He who has slept on the teacher's bed should lie on a bed of iron; / or the twice-born should perform four or three Cāndrāyaṇa penances; / upon the penance being completed, he is then freed from sin.
