yāvanna vindate jāyāṃ tāvadarddho bhavet pumān
nārddhaṃ prajāyate sarvaṃ prajāyetetyapi śrutiḥ

As long as a man does not obtain a wife, so long he remains half;
a half does not reproduce; he should become whole to reproduce—so says revealed scripture.
