Vaiṣṇava Dharmaśāstra 51.71

nākṛtvā prāṇināṃ hiṃsāṃ māṃsam utpadyate kvacit
na ca prāṇivadhaḥ svargyas tasmān māṃsaṃ vivarjayet //
Meat cannot be obtained without injuring an animal, and the murder of animals excludes the murderer from heaven, therefore must meat be avoided.
