samutpattiṃ ca māṃsasya vadhabandhau ca dehinām
prasamīkṣya nivarteta sarvamāṃsasya bhakṣaṇāt //

Reflecting upon the origin of flesh and upon the (sin of) hurting or confining animated creatures, he must abstain from animal food of any kind.
