having fasted on another lunar day and afterwards not having broken the fast, another is not to be fasted upon—this rule-violation does not occur, because there is only one deity; such is the meaning.
'The twelfth joined with Wednesday and Śravaṇa, confluence-water, / ablution, curd-rice, and properly fasting are the highest rule. / By Sagara, Kakutstha, Dhundhumāra, and Gādhi, / and by these and others, O king of kings, the twelfth-vow [was observed] out of desire. / That twelfth joined with Wednesday together with Śravaṇa, that very one / is declared by the ṛṣis to be Jayā in the month of Bhādrapada. / Having observed that fast with reverence, a man attains immortality, O son of Pṛthā, endowed with the powers of becoming minute and the like.'
