"Food" is of five kinds, consisting of that which is to be chewed, swallowed, licked, sucked, and drunk, and is "desired," that is, pleasing to the Brahmin, to the deceased, or to the performer. "Sacrificial food" suitable as an offering in a śrāddha—such as unhusked rice, rice, barley, wheat, mung beans, black gram, wild grain, black mustard greens, large-scaled fish, cardamom, dry ginger, black pepper, asafoetida, jaggery, sugar, camphor, rock salt, sea salt, jackfruit, coconut, plantain, jujube, cow's milk, curd, clarified butter, sweet rice-milk, honey, and meat—is to be understood as renowned in other traditional legal texts. By the term "sacrificial food" itself, there is the exclusion of what is unsuitable and forbidden in other traditional legal texts, namely: kodo millet, lentils, chickpeas, horse gram, wild rice chaff, beans, rajma, pumpkin, eggplant, the two kinds of bṛhatī, Malabar spinach, bamboo shoots, long pepper, sweet flag, dill, pungent herbs, black salt, and buffalo or yak milk, curd, clarified butter, sweet rice-milk, and the like. "Without anger," even if an occasion for anger arises. "Unhurried," that is, composed. The connection is: "he should give until satisfaction." By the word "tu" (and/but): he should give in such a way that something is left over, because the leavings are the share of the slave class,
