ānvaṣṭakyaṃ ca pūrvedyur māsi māsy atha pārvaṇam |
kāmyam abhyudaye 'ṣṭamyām ekoddiṣṭam athāṣṭamam ||
'The rite following the aṣṭakā (ānvaṣṭakya), the one on the previous day (pūrvedyuḥ), then the pārvaṇa month by month,
the optional (kāmya), the auspicious (abhyudaye), on the eighth day (aṣṭamyām), and then the rite for a single ancestor (ekoddiṣṭa) as the eighth.
