yuvā na vṛddhaḥ | dhīmān laukikavaidikavyavahāreṣu nipuṇamatiḥ | janapriyaḥ smitapūrvamṛdvabhibhāṣaṇādibhir anuttaraktajanaḥ || 1.55 ||
"Young": not old. "Intelligent": of sharp intellect in worldly and Vedic affairs. "Liked by people": one who has not alienated people, through gentle speech preceded by a smile, and so on. || 1.55
