iti smaraṇāt | tasmād aviśeṣeṇa sarveṣāṃ dahanādiniṣedhaḥ | ataḥ snehādinā niṣedhātikrame prāyaścittaṃ kartavyam,
—because of this smṛti text. Therefore, the prohibition against burning and the like applies to all without distinction. Hence, if one transgresses the prohibition out of affection or the like, a penance must be performed:
