vidheḥ prāthamikād asmād dvitīye dviguṇaṃ bhavet |
tṛtīye triguṇaṃ proktaṃ caturthe nāsti niṣkṛtiḥ ||

"From this initial rule, it shall be double for a second [offence]; / it is stated to be triple for a third, and for a fourth there is no expiation."
