tālo laghvakṣaro mātrā praṇavādi carecchanaiḥ /
pratyāhāro jāpakānāṃ dhyānamīśvaracintanaṃ //
A measure is the duration of a short syllable; one should practice slowly with the praṇava and the like. / Withdrawal of the senses belongs to those who recite; meditation is contemplation of God.
