Agnipurāṇa 169.14

pādaṃ pādantu hatyāyāś careyuste pṛthak pṛthak /
upakāre kriyamāṇe vipattau nāsti pātakaṃ //
they should each separately perform one quarter of [the penance for] the slaughter. / When doing an act of aid, there is no sin if death occurs.
