ekarātropavāsaś cakṛcchraṃ śāntapanaṃ smṛtaṃ /
etacca pratyābhyastaṃ mahāśāntapanaṃ smṛtaṃ //
and fasting for one night, is known as the śāntapana kṛcchra. / And this, repeated day by day, is known as the mahāśāntapana.
