tāsu devāś ca nāgādyā maithunānmanasā purā /
dharmasargampravakṣyāmi daśapatnīṣu dharmataḥ //
Through union in them, the gods, snakes, and others were born, who earlier had been born from the mind. / I shall declare the creation of Dharma through his ten wives in proper order:
