caturmāsaṃ viṣṇulokī kārttike svargalokyapi /
dīpadānāt paraṃ nāsti na bhūtaṃ na bhaviṣyati //
Giving it for four months, one goes to Viṣṇu’s realm; in Kārttika, one reaches the heavenly realm.
There is no gift superior to the gift of a lamp; none has been, nor will there ever be.
