vibhajeyuḥ sutāḥ pitrorūrdhvamṛkthamṛṇaṃ samam /
māturduhitaraḥ śeṣamṛṇāttābhya ṛte 'nnayaḥ //
After the parents, the sons should divide equally the inheritance and the debt; / daughters [receive] what remains of the mother's [property] after [paying] the debt, and in their absence, the male descendants.
