pāladoṣavināśe tu pāle daṇḍo vidhīyate /
ardhatrayodaśapaṇaḥ svāmino dravyameva ca //
If loss occurs through the keeper's fault, a fine is prescribed for the keeper / amounting to twelve and a half paṇas, and he must restore the animal itself to the owner.
