agnir uvāca
kāvyasya nāṭakādeś ca alaṅkārān vadāmy atha /
dhvanirvarṇāḥ padaṃ vākyamityetadvāṅmayaṃ mataṃ //
Agni said:
I shall now state the ornaments of poetry, drama, and the like:
sound, phonemes, word, sentence—such is considered literature.
