ābhāṇakoktirlokoktiḥ sarvasāmānya eva tāḥ /
yānudhāvati lokoktiśchāyāmicchanti tāṃ budhāḥ //
Common speech is proverbial speech; those [proverbs] are common to everyone. / That which follows common speech, the wise consider to be the Chāyā [of common folk].
