chekā vidagdhā vaidagdhyaṃ kalāsu kuśalā matiḥ /
tāmullikhantī chekoktiśchāyā kavibhiriṣyate //
The clever (cheka) are the witty, and wit is an intellect skilled in the arts; / portraying that, the Chāyā of clever speech is intended by the poets.
