svarūpaṃ lakṣaṇanteṣāṃ prabhā ratneṣu nirmalā /
nayanonmīlanaṃ vaktre(4) sānnidhyāya ca lakṣma tat //
Their characteristic mark is their inherent nature: spotless radiance in gemstones; / the opening of the eyes on a face [liṅga] and that mark are for [the deity's] presence.
