dharmasya hyāpavargyasya nārtho 'rthāyopakalpate /
nārthasya dharmaikāntasya kāmo lābhāya hi smṛtaḥ //
9. Indeed, wealth is not considered the end of Dharma which is the way to Apavarga, (i.e., release from Samsara), nor is Kama, the end of that wealth which promotes only Dharma.
