sa saṃhitāṃ bhāgavatīṃ kṛtvānukramya cātmajam /
śukam adhyāpayām āsa nivṛttinirataṃ muniḥ //
8. He (the sage Vyasa) wrote this book of (the glories of) the Lord, and, after examining it, he taught it to his son Suka, who was firm in renunciation.
