sa talpāt tūrṇam utthāya kālo 'yam iti vihvalaḥ /
sūtī-gṛham agāt tūrṇaṃ praskhalan mukta-mūrdhajaḥ //

3. Up from his bed instantly started he (thinking), "It is just time to kill" [or "He is my Yama",] and in great bewilderment ran in haste with tottering steps and dishevelled hair to the room of confinement. 4. In her wretched plight the virtuous Devaki pitifully said to her brother, "This is thy daugter-in-law, O blessed brother, it is not fit that thou killest a female child".
