evaṃ pañca-vidhaṃ liṅgaṃ tri-vṛt ṣoḍaśa vistṛtam /
eṣa cetanayā yukto jīva ity abhidhīyate //
74. Thus the combination of the five objects, the three gunas and their development into sixteen modifications when joined to the
faculty of understanding comes to be called the Jīva.
