vakṣye pratipadādīni vratāni vyāsa śṛṇvatha /
vāśvānarapadaṃ yāti śikhivratamidaṃ smṛtam //

Brahmā said:
Now I shall declare the observances beginning with the first lunar day; listen, Vyāsa:
One goes to the abode of fire; this is known as the Śikhi observance.
